We came across an amazing Practical Guide for Dog Parents in Need on Greencamp written by Helena Miles. Not only does she explain everything you need to know about CBD and your dog but she has an amazing visual graphic that covers it all! As a very visual person this was like night and day for me. Enjoy the Guide to CBD and your dog.
“Unlike CBD, the most famous cannabis compound called tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is toxic and dangerous to dogs. In fact, dogs are very sensitive to it and you need to avoid it at all costs.
On the other hand, CBD seems to bring forth a feeling of calmness and balance in all mammals, including dogs. It’s not psychoactive like THC, and what’s also interesting, it fits perfectly in our pets bodies through a positive interaction with an endocannabinoid system that very much resembles our own.”
I can’t say how many times, in my short amount of time working with PHB, people have mentioned to me that CBD is toxic to dogs. THC and CBD are two different compounds but are commonly mistaken to have the similar reactions in animals.
She continues to explain the many health benefits CBD has for dogs:
“CBD has shown to be very effective for your dog’s overall health as well as some specific medical conditions. So, even if your best friend does not suffer from any specific condition, it’s fine to give it CBD as a prevention or just as a daily supplement. However, CBD can also be used alone for treating a certain condition or as a boost to other medication for a number of different conditions and symptoms.”
She then goes on to break down all of those many benefits. From allergies and skin issues to anxiety, aggressiveness, fear and mobility. The amount of helpful information she gives is amazing and is such a great reference for pet owners.
While this information is ALL helpful what helped me best understand was this amazing graphic they created to give you a step-by-step guide to CBD and your pup.
